prop recommendations

We use lots of props online through Personal Practice, as well as through in-person classes. Why? For the sake of feeling. Sensory input for motor output, or, said another way: the more you can feel, the better you can more.

In some classes, props are something useful but not required.
In other classes, a prop is a way of entering the body and providing intelligent responses of how movement happens.

  • A sticky mat that is ideally not too thick, osoft, or squishy.

I usually reocmmend Manduka mats that are 3-6mm in thickness like these:

    PROLite 4.7mm or 6mm

    eKo 5mm or 4mm

I personally plractice on a PROLite 6mm and an eKo 1.7mm travel mat and love them both,.

  • Two blocks that are firm, ideally made of cork or hard foam, like these ones:

    Manduka cork blocks

  • Two yoga blankets. These are often times used rolled up or stacked. Towels can work well too.

  • 8ft long strap (or longer).

Something like a rope, PVC pipe, broom handle, scarf, or dog leash can work great too!

  • Lacrosse ball (for firmness, directness) or a tennis ball (for softness)

  • A squish ball (or Pilates ball) are used far less frequently, but make an appearance here and there.

  • A segment of wall space; does not often need to be wider than 2-3ft of clear space
